How to choose M5 connector and cable for RS485 communication?
RS485 communication requirements for M5 wire :
1. If used outdoors, the cables shall be armored and double-shielded according to the requirements of GB 50217-2007 Cable Design Code and GB50057-94 Lightning Protection Design Code for Buildings.
2. If used indoors and in general industrial conditions, use unarmored double-shielded cables.
3.RS485 communication cable shall be used as a special 485 cable, which must be double shielded twisted pair with line diameter of 1.0.
4. RS485 communication cable must meet the characteristic impedance of 120 Ω, then according to the specific communication rate, transmission distance and wiring method of laying environment, configuration of different specifications.
5.It should be noted that the maximum external direct connection of the M5 connector is only 3.0mm, and the minimum double shielded twisted pair is only OD4.0mm, so the M5 connector should be customized.

RS485 communication requirements for M5 connector:

1. The M5 connector must be shielded.‍

2. Considering the use of the equipment in the outdoor environment, the M5 connector shall be shakeproof.

3. M5 connector shall be waterproof.
